J K Rowling has written three books so far under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. They are a mystery series based around a private detective called Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin…

I’ve read (listened on audible) to all of these and I’ve really enjoyed them. The first one is my favourite followed by the third. The basis of the second one was a bit odd… if you’ve read it you’ll know what I mean!
Murder Mystery / Thriller
Each book is based on the two central characters of the detective and his assistant and the development of the relationship between them is great, it really ties the books together and you love the central characters and will them to succeed.
Book 1 is based around the murder mystery of a celebrity, a model who falls to her death from a balcony which is originally presumed to be suicide, but is it?
Book 2 is the one I found a bit odd. This story is based around a novelist Owen Quine who goes missing, he wrote a book that contains info that would be enough for some people to keep him quiet… it’s the content of his books that I found a bit disturbing- they were a bit peculiar…
Book 3 starts with Robin receiving a woman’s leg in the post… not very nice! The story continues to find out who the leg belongs to and who sent it? I felt like this was a return to the first novel- not so weird!
Why I liked them
If you’ve read any of the Harry Potter books you will know that Rowling is a fantastic writer. There’s an easy flow to her words which make easy reading. The story lines are right up my street- I love a crime drama and they are compelling. I would class them as real page turners for want of a better phrase!
I love books, as a child I devoured them, now I am older and I spend most of my time at work, I don’t have time to read as much as I would like, which is why I love Audible, I listen to books in the car, on my commute etc and they’re great. Most of the books I review on my blog I have actually listened to rather than read, click for a free trial of audible and to get a free audio book. I highly recommend!
I think these make the perfect easy but interesting read! 5 out of 5 stars for the first and third books, 4 for the second as I found it a bit weird…
