Happy Friday everyone! Today’s lifestyle post is my every day make up routine, this is what I wear on my face most days- super quick and easy, stays on pretty well all day and it’s what I wear to work during the week. I use a mixture of high end and drugstore / pharmacy products but the high end products featured here are ones that I have repurchased and last for ages! Apart from maybe the brow pencil- I get through a lot of brow pencils…

The base
I have been using Estee Lauder Double Wear light foundation * for about 6 months as my everyday foundation. To begin with it looked amazing! But recently it completely dried my skin out and my skin was looking pretty ropey. So, I purchased the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser* to try it out, I wear this in Alaska Light which is the colour match for the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation* in Fiji, which is my ‘not everyday’ foundation.
I bought this tinted moisturiser about a month ago now and to begin with I found it very watery, but now my skin is a bit more back to normal and I have found a brush that it goes on so well with (Real Techniques Stippling Brush*) I love it!! It’s a light to medium coverage with a really good colour and stays really well if you blend it. So, my routine is cleanse, moisturise and when the moisturiser has soaked in I apply the tinted moisturiser with the stippling brush… Also, this has SPF 30 in it so it’s super good for your skin and has been great during the heatwave! It hasn’t been melting off either like some foundations can do… I do think that wearing this more or less everyday has let my skin go back to normal.
Lips
My next step is to put on some lip balm. I put this on at this point because if I do want to wear a lipstick or lip product I put that on at the very end, by which time my lip balm has had time to sink in, making a good base. Every day though I don’t really bother with anything but lip balm. I have very dry lips and I love the Blistex Intensive Moisturiser*, this is really good in the winter when you get seriously dry and chapped lips, it’s the only thing that sorts mine out!
Eyes & Eyebrows
Next up I do my eyebrows, I fill them in with the Benefit Precisely My Brows* in shade 3 and then I go over them with the Benefit ready, set, BROW! clear brow gel *which keeps them in place all day. The clear gel is really good as you can do it in a hurry and don’t end up with marks all over your face!
For my eyes, I put some eyeshadow on, I know this isn’t a must for most people but I like to just have a bit of something on there and I always just put a colour all over my lid and bend it in to the crease a bit, I don’t do a full on smoky eye or anything like that for every day! I also like to use a non-matte shade, something with a bit of shimmer. The one I am using at the moment is the Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Sin*. This is actually in the Urban Decay NAKED 1 palette* and I hit pan on it, so rather than buying a new palette, I just bought one of these. Picture above is a photo with no filter but it comes out lighter than it looks on the lid.
Concealer
I have two favourite concealers which I switch between, I’ve used the Collection Concealer* for years but with my skin being a bit rubbish recently I’ve found it too dry and it sort of sticks under my eyes… if that makes any sense?! So, I have been using the NYX HD Studio Photogenic Concealer more recently. I have this in CW04. I just put some of this under my eyes and I blend it out with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush*. Sometimes I use my fingers but I like this brush and then I just have a sweep with the remainder on the brush over any areas of my face that need a bit of extra coverage. I don’t suffer from many blemishes but under my eye area is very dark naturally (plus I am always tired!) so I need a good coverage concealer.
Powder & Blush
As I said in my monthly favourites, as a glasses wearer I like some powder on top of my foundation. I wait until this stage of my routine and the foundation has had a chance to settle on my skin. I use the NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder in Crystal which I just lightly apply all over my face with a Real Techniques powder brush* (the one that comes in the pack). This is a really nice clear powder which doesn’t make you look cakey and doesn’t abolish the glowy look of the tinted moisturiser (or sheer glow foundation when I’m using that).
I then put on a bit of blush, I like the NARS Deep Throat blush* which is a similar colour to their cult blusher Orgasm*, but more ‘pretty pink’ rather than earthy. I like Deep Throat looks good on my skin tone whether I have a tan or not, I think the Orgasm looks better with a tan on me. Props to the people who name the NARS products…
Mascara
My final step is mascara. I spoke about this in my May favourites– I am looking for a new mascara to love, I have been trying a few but I still keep going back to this one – the Bourjois 1 Seconde Mascara* in Black. It’s so good! I will do a mascara review soon and let you know what I think of the products I’ve been testing!
