I feel like summer is finally here and I wanted to share with you my favourite garden flowers. These are flowers that I have grown myself in my little garden. I’m not a huge gardener but I’m really starting to get in to it… I am very lucky to be advised by my Granny who basically just says ‘that needs a lot of looking after’ when I pick something up in the garden centre and I take that as my signal to put it back…
I post a lot of my garden flowers on Jude Rivers Instagram, so make sure you head over to have a look at my other flower snaps! This is also the first summer that I’ve had a ‘proper’ camera which I invested in when I started the blog and I’ve really enjoyed snapping them!
On with the show, these are my favourite garden flowers that I have grown this summer!
Roses are so beautiful. They are one of my favourite flowers generally! They are lovely to have in your garden- they’re one of those plants that you feel great satisfaction when they flower, like you’ve really grown something! My faves are these full bloom pink flowers.
I have a range of different roses, some others that I love are apricot and yellow but I also love this white one that has an abundance of little white flowers all together.
I have found roses reasonably easy to look after. They’re pretty hardy and they keep coming back every year. They like a good drink but they tend to survive if you forget… If you keep cutting off the dead flowers (dead heading) the flowers will keep growing back all summer!
These do need water, think Hydrangea, think hydrate! But I haven’t had any problems with them (touch wood). They don’t like direct sunlight, so they’ll do well in a partially shady partially sunny spot! I also have a lovely pink one but that isn’t quite out yet. You can also buy a special variety now where the flowers change colour!
I’m a bit sad because these just don’t photograph that well, they are so beautiful in the garden but as the flowers themselves are small and it’s difficult to get the real effect through a photo. These pink and whites are called ‘hot lips’ which I just think is so fun! I also have some dark pink ones, you can have a look at these on my Instagram.
That’s it for now but I’ll keep snapping my garden and will do some more posts like this!
