Hello and welcome to my blog post – a weekend away in Bath. Last weekend I visited Bath, Somerset with a gal pal and it was so much fun. We only stayed for one night but I live about an hour and a half away from Bath so two days of sightseeing and then home was a good break! I’ve just put in this post some of the sightseeing we did and some of the yummy places we visited. So if you’re looking for a weekend away somewhere, Bath could be your place!
The Jane Austen Centre
On Saturday we visited the Jane Austen Centre which was a small museum near the centre of town. Jane Austen lived in Bath for a few years and this was really interesting. There are also some walking tours you can do if you want to see the different places she lived!
Lunch at Jolly’s
Jolly’s is an old department store in Bath (now run as a House of Fraser) It had a beautiful tea room where we had a really tasty lunch! Definitely recommend this place! I had the egg sandwich and chips!
We then had a good afternoon of looking around the shops – there is some great shopping in Bath!! Then we headed back to the hotel to get ready for the evening. We stayed in the Bath Hilton which is a chain and had a great central location but it was very expensive and I probably wouldn’t stay there again- the place didn’t live up to the cost unfortunately!
The Ancient Roman Baths
We did a Torchlit Visit and Dinner Package at the Ancient Roman Baths which included a 3 course pre fix menu dinner at The Roman Baths Kitchen which is just over the way. I would definitely recommend seeing the Roman Baths if you go to Bath- they’re fascinating!
Breakfast at Carluccio’s
As the breakfast at the hotel was so expensive we nipped to Carluccio’s for breakfast instead!
The Royal Crescent
For our second day we walked up to the Circle and the Royal Crescent where we had a lovely walk around and also visited the No.1 Royal Crescent Museum.
No. 1 Royal Crescent Museum
Another great stopf for a weekend away in Bath is this one! The No.1 Royal Crescent Museum was purchased by the Council in the 1960s and turned in to a museum that shows what life would have been like during the period 1776-1796. The rooms feature historic furniture, pictures and objects that reveal what life was like for Bath’s fashionable residents – both upstairs and downstairs. I really enjoyed this too!
Sunday lunch at Bills
Before we headed home we had a nice lunch at Bills, you can’t beat a Bills can you!
I hope you enjoyed reading about my weekend away in Bath, where’s your favourite place for a weekend away? Have you had a weekend away in Bath?
