If you know me well you will know that I’m not ‘Mrs Exercise’… I did go through a stage of going to the gym quite regularly a couple of years ago but somehow that all fell out of bed. More recently I have decided that I need to get fitter and healthier and if I lose some weight along the way then all the better (sidenote- I am not any thinner as yet…).
To get myself in the mood I have updated my work out clothes. Some didn’t fit from my last hurrah at the gym (too small sadly not too big!) but also as I have gained a couple of years in age what I want to work out in has also changed. I used to be a fan of leggings and a vest and nothing matching. Now I am more t-shirt and leggings and black with a pop of colour. It’s not that I don’t love all the fun colourful work out gear that you can buy, it’s just if you’re working out 3 / 4 times a week it’s much easier if everything sort of goes together rather than trying to mess about finding things that don’t epically clash. Of course if that’s your thing then power to you!
So here is the detail of my go to workout gear, my workout capsule wardrobe if you like!

I love leggings at the gym. I always wear long ones, it ensures you don’t have to remember to shave your legs- morning time is precious! My favourites by far are the Elle Sport leggings, I have a couple of pairs of this particular pair, I like them because they are thick and good quality and super high waisted, so if you’re in a compromising position your belly doesn’t fall out! Super handy! I also have some Adidas and Nike ones but I just don’t love them as much. My only issue with these Elle ones is that the logo is a transfer and now they’ve been through the wash a few times it’s starting to come off and look a bit messy. But hey ho.
As I said before I have released the vests from duty and prefer a t shirt- again at-shirt saves you from shaving every day. cough cough. Also I have suddenly become conscious of my bust being everywhere when you’re trying to work out. I can tell it’s distracting and I actually find it a little embarrassing. T-shirts are the way to go. My fave Adidas one shown here, again I have others but this is my absolute fave and it comes in different colours but the other colours aren’t on ASOS which is a shame…
One of the only things I haven’t changed is my trainers, I have had my Nike luminous trainers for a long time and I have only ever used them indoors at the gym so they haven’t been ruined. I do want to start running outside (no laughing please) so I may add a pair of more substantial trainers to my workout wardrobe… please leave your suggestions below for good outdoor running trainers! The above pic and link are similar to mine but not the same, I don’t think they’re stocked anywhere anymore…
AH, the dreaded underwear… I have quite a large bust and as I’ve got fatter since I last went to the gym, they have also got bigger. I used to wear ones that you pulled over your head, but I now favour ones that fit like a real bra. I have tried LOADS of sports bras and the one above from M&S is my absolute fave and I have just bought a few of the same one rather than try and find a better one! The search is over! I’m not too fussy about socks at the gym but I basically only wear my Harry Potter socks from Primark that I bought in bulk last month and replaced all other socks I owned!
Hope you enjoyed this post guys! Comment down below your fave workout gear and don’t forget to leave me your trainer suggestions!
